What does it mean to linger?
Something is found by staying…
Homes are made warm by candlelit conversation, long after dinner is done. Late afternoon light is noticed in that one room in the corner of the house, only after living there for some time. And the preciousness of time is understood.
Each painting glows with warm tones that settle your space and bring a sense of comfort.
WARMTH THAT STAYS
Painted on raw canvas, the material soaks up the paint, yielding paintings that feel natural and settled—raw yet soft.
These pieces were created through spending time in the nature surrounding me—slow walks observing the trees, hearing the birds, and taking in the earthy aroma of the land before coming back home.
I then understood the landscapes deeper over hours in the studio with my paintbrush.
True presence was required, which is something that I re-learned the value of over the summer when my grandmother had a heart attack. In the ICU, there was nothing to do but be by her side. Talk to her, even if we didn’t know if she could hear us. Hold her hand. Life was on pause—there was no thoughts of our to-do lists.
When I sat down to name this collection and what it means, I thought about what it means to be intensely present in life and how it doesn’t happen enough.
I don’t want to rush anymore. I want to extend the evening walk for 20 more minutes because the sun is hitting just right. I want to take too long on my Scrabble turn.
I want to be here for the small and large moments in life because, when we look back, chances are we’ll all wish for just a little more time.
